February 1st, 2022 marks the first day of the Lunar New Year, or Chinese New Year, celebrated by Asian cultures, as well as throughout the world. Following the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of the Tiger is the third of the twelve animals on the Chinese calendar cycle. The time to show off your stripes and roar extra loud is now!

Brookfield Place — In partnership with the New York Chinese Cultural Center ice sculptures from Okamoto Studio will be on display on the Waterfront Plaza from February 3-5th. They will also be live ice carvings and kids can create their own Lunar New Year Lanterns. Best of all this is FREE!
Welcome to Chinatown - Welcome to Chinatown and New York Chinese Freemasons Athletic Club has partnered up to bring free lion dances to Chinatown on February 5 (noon-1 pm). Colorful lion dancers, drums, cymbals, and firecrackers will make their way down the streets. Learn more about the fun and festivities as well as explore all the local favorites and must-see destinations.
New York Philharmonic — The renowned symphony kicks the Lunar New Year concert on February 8th. The evening's schedule includes the debut of Earl Lee, who will lead a program that includes Li Huanzhi’s "Spring Festival Overture". There's also a gala, with a pre-concert reception 6-7pm in the Och Foyer and a seated dinner, attended by the artists in the Morgan Stanley Lobby immediately following the performance.
The Met Museum — If you can’t make it outdoors? Don’t worry you can still celebrate from the comforts of your home. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is celebrating the Year of the Tiger with virtual performances, interactive activities, and artist-led workshops for all ages during a daylong festival on Saturday, January 29.
Asia Society — Celebrates the Lunar New Year of the Tiger with A Family Day Program of Stories, Music, Dance, and Puppets.
