Traffic: Can you tell us what Le Rouge means to you?
Izak: Rouge is about confidence, haute style, and feeling great about yourself. It’s the moment to take chances, expand your style and stimulate the senses. It’s like a statement affirming youself- you are exactly in the right place. For Izak rouge also symbolizes life itself— it’s the exclamation color of LIFE!
T: Do you believe that there is an ideal age for beauty?
I: As I age, I become more self-confident and comfortable in my skin. I let go and embraced my imperfections. My mom recently turned 85, and I’m grateful. Whenever I think of her, I think of how beautiful she is. The gift of time is truly the most wonderful thing. And I think women can wear Rouge at any age!
T: As an artist, how do you express this beauty through your work?
I: Creating beauty illustrations is about capturing the personality and essence of natural beauty. I like to start by focusing on the face, which is a combination of women. There are differences throughout but there is always something familiar. One of my early inspirations was Meryl Streep; she's weird but gorgeous.
T: Do you have any favorite beauty products?
I: I love fragrances because they are evocative and tell a story. Whenever I smell something unique, it creates a moment or brings me back to a memory. I particularly love the fragrances from Frederic Malle, and they are simply magical. Traffic is working with Aerin Beauty, I love their new fragrance Rouge. It’s perfect for the season!
My favorite red lipstick is Chanel #99 Pirate. You can’t find a better shade!
