On the first dimension, Mikeflo is an emcee, producer and dj. To those that know and understand what he does, Mikeflo is considered a ”Cultural Culinary Technician”. His work: freedom music; his use of the word Freedom not being limited to one sense but applying holistically across his diverse perspective. Musically his perspective is diverse as well, absorbing everything from his mother’s vinyls to his own work as a dj.

Mikeflo was born and raised in Chicago, eventually moving to Atlanta, where he earned his Bachelors Degree in speech communications at Clark Atlanta University. Equally, Mikeflo was driven to move to the ATL by his passion for music. While he was there, he was lucky enough to join U.N.S.I.G.N.E.D, “a collective of 5 emcees from different regions, who happened to be reaching out for the same star.” Mikeflo’s time with U.N.S.I.G.N.E.D really allowed him to develop his stage presence as well as his artistry in general. Some notable associated acts include A dead prez, Tribe Called Quest, Common, L.L. Cool J, Outkast, Ice Cube and Biz Markie

Years later, Mikeflo had decided to return back to his roots in Chicago, where his solo debut came with the release of “The Empowerment Zone LP”. “The album was truly a soundtrack to freedom and remained completely free from the predictable formats and senseless rhetoric that plagues today's rap game.” Mikeflo has made his way back to Brookyln, where he is currently producing and recording new material for himself as well as contemporaries. His newest project is his band duo with Devon Lee, "Welcome 2 The Limit". They are working with Swedish producer Thomas Rusiak on projects that include "elements of indie rock, electronica, soul, funk, hip hop and all kinds of rare grooves with various tempos and different feelings throughout".

In one word, his music can be deserved as “flotation - music that flows from the heart to the should of the nation” After reading this, you might now better understand why “emcee, producer and dj” is a title that discredits what Mikeflo does, but the only true way to understand what Mikeflo achieves is by listening to his music.
